Switching Out The Plastic…

I’ve been trying to keep proactive about less plastic consumption. The (no name) Art Group Earth Day Fundraiser was a real eye opener for me. After extensive research, reading, documentaries I realize the severity in which plastic consumption is damaging our environment. But being an optimist, I’m also a believer in the little things, and how they can make a big impact. I’m now switching out the last of my plastic consumption, the ever convenient plastic toothbrush! After more research I found a great company where the entire toothbrush and packaging is biodegradable. Every component is plant-based: bristles, handle, wrapper, and box. It’s just a $1-2 more, but a worthy investment for our Mother Earth :)

Brush with Bamboo is a company founded by the Kumar Family in Southern California. In 2008, they began the conversion of their small suburban home into an organic permaculture garden and model of sustainability that now produces 5000 pounds of food annually, harvests rainwater, and serves as a learning center for gardening. They named their house The Growing Home. Today, they also manage a small organic farm near their home that provides healthy organic food to many families through a CSA program. In partnership with long-time family friend, Rich Delano, Brush with Bamboo was founded as part of the family’s shift towards a sustainable zero-waste lifestyle.
