The Sofianer
This year I participated in THE SOFIANER. This was a very personal piece for me, as I continue to struggle being a woman in Bulgaria.
Unveiling the Roles and Expectations: Exploring Women’s Societal Perceptions in Bulgaria and Their Evolution over Time
QUESTIONSÂ FOR THE VIEWER: What roles, expectations and stereotypes does society cast on women living in Bulgaria? How is it changing? How has it stayed the same?
The Sofianer is a collaborative art project that invites artists from Bulgaria and the world to create a collection of covers of the imaginary magazine The Sofianer as a homage to the cult covers of The New Yorker magazine . The project aims to celebrate our love for Sofia, show its whimsical, funny or absurd sides, give a poetic or unexpected look at today, reveal our dreams for the future and initiate a public debate about what kind of city (we want to) live in.
Thank you to Multi Kulti Collective for putting together this wonderful initiative.
